Mālamalama O Ka Mahina.
Hula is the heartbeat and the heart of the Hawaiian people; in it you
will find the history and the legends of an ancient culture. Hula is
power and grace and laughter. Hula is spiritual and raucous good fun.
Hula is life.
The women who perform all live in the Wenatchee Valley. They are
wives, mothers and professionals in their daily lives. They are
dedicated to their hula and its sisterhood. They are proud and happy
to share with you some of what they have learned and respect. They are
beautiful hula dancers.

Kisbetyárok Family Dancers
A performing group sponsored by the
Hungarian American Association of Washington. Dancers of all ages,
children and adults, meet each week to learn Hungarian dances. We
rehearse on Saturday mornings during the school year from 10 am to
noon at the Phinney Neighborhood Center in Seattle. Rehearsals get
very busy, but much is accomplished and having all ages together is a
plus. Older students and parents get to help with the younger dancers
and families have the opportunity to dance together!

Edelweiss Tanz Gruppe
In
the fall of 2001 Wolf Noack, a former ballroom dance teacher and
native of Germany, began a German/Austrian folk dance group with
twenty high school girls. Some of the girls asked if their parents
could join the group as they found it necessary to drop out due to
involvement in sports and too many other high school activities. The
new members were from every age group, eighteen through seventy
something and all walks of life including builder, doctor, nurse,
engineer, school principal, etc. Practice is once a week with some
couples coming from as far away as Seattle. They are outfitted
in traditional clothing direct from Germany.

Eclectic Cloggers
The Eclectic
Cloggers perform a high energy style of Southern Appalachian step
dancing to live Old-Time fiddle music. This lively percussive dance
form comes from the eastern mountain region of the United States,
where it began as a mix of Irish, Scottish and English step dances
with African and Native American influences. Since 1982, the
Seattle-based Eclectic Cloggers have performed at festivals and
community events throughout the Northwest. In 1994, the group toured
international folk dance festivals in Belgium, Switzerland and
Holland. More information about their clogging performances and dance
workshops can be found at eclecticcloggers.org.
